This month marks 8 months for me in my role as Marketing Executive at Hyperion Executive Search. And what a great couple of months it has been.

When I think back to where I was before I started this role, I wasn’t really sure what direction my career was about to head in. I was a recent undergrad and was just finishing up my masters in Digital Marketing. However, like most students out there I still wasn’t sure what my next steps should be. I’d been freelancing in photography for the past 3 years on and off and the decision to follow that through or look for a more permanent role was a difficult one.

I’ve always been a ‘yes’ person. That mentality that if you say yes to everything that comes your way it will lead you to the right place was something I lived by. ‘Yes, I will photograph your cat for you. Yes, I will cut out that image file for you and yes I will make the coffee because it’s all experience right? Correct. However, even though it’s often good to say yes it’s also important to understand what is worth your time and what isn’t.

I learnt this well when 3 years into my photography career a band emailed me asking me to photograph their gig and in return, I would be put on the ‘guest list’. I’m not entirely sure what being put on the guest list entails or how it makes me different to any other person in that room but nevertheless, I declined (which was not at all like me).

This yes motto has lead me into some funny environments in the past. My family were always saying ‘How do you get yourself into these places?’ But I do believe that the key to growing, learning and achieving your goals is by putting yourself in environments that you may not want to be in (within reason of course).

Since landing my job at Hyperion in August 2019 I’ve been so grateful to the team for welcoming me in with open arms. At Hyperion we work to build the best teams for the best companies within the cleantech industry. And it really is something amazing to be apart of.

As Marketing Executive my job is to drive and promote our services through coordinated marketing campaigns. Communicating with our target audiences and developing thought-provoking content that will create brand awarenesses. As well as working closely with external creative agencies to help grow the many different aspects of our marketing.

My role has been so beneficial for me in so many ways. It has allowed me to not only grow in confidence and believe in my abilities but it has also taught me so much skill-wise. From seeing campaigns through from start to end to creating a strong B2B marketing strategy and setting clear objectives that are aligned with our brand’s purpose. If there has ever been a time or place that I am grateful I said yes it has to be when I was offered this role.

Leading the marketing for a company can be a huge task especially when you are a one-member team. But having co-workers who are passionate and driven to make the company a success just like myself makes it all achievable. We are a fun company and our flexible working hours along with Friday beers and dress down attire makes that busy working week much easier.

B2B marketing can be perceived as dim but one thing I can now say is how untrue that statement is. The past 8 months have been full of ambition and purpose and recruitment marketing does have the ability to be stimulating. Our marketing focuses on being creative, transparent and fearless.

At Hyperion, we will not only enable your business to flourish but we look to create long-lasting relationships with our clients and candidates. We may be a small team but that doesn’t stop us from doing big things!
